Early experiences with art Essay

The primary experience I had with craftsmanship was the point at which I was a multi year old. I was in an eatery with my folks when the canvas on the divider struck me. I couldn't take my eyes off the work of art. It was completely staggering with heap tints and brilliant hues. The artwork was a copy of the ‘Renoirs Luncheon of the Boating Party’. The hues in the composition were enchanting, drawing out the best of the painter and his craft. Life for the individuals appeared to resemble melodies with ceaseless verses, continuing endlessly, unceasingly like the water lapping against the sides of their pontoon. That second I understood that craftsmanship could breath life into pictures. That day I conclude that craftsmanship would be a piece of my life consistently. I began contemplating the different bits of workmanship that I could see. The craftsmanship used to make my life progressively important. I could recognize myself with a large portion of the craftsmen and their work. Workmanship gradually got a change me. I began taking a gander at life from an alternate point of view. Life appeared to be profound for me. My folks and educators were strong of my enthusiasm for craftsmanship. Truth be told, they urged me to paint different representations. My educator took an exceptional enthusiasm for me and urged me to give a valiant effort. Their words egged me on and I had the option to try and have a little presentation of my canvases in my school at sixteen years old. It was an incredible achievement. At present, however there is lesser time for me to spend on craftsmanship and my aesthetic capacities may have dulled a bit. My affection for workmanship has not diminished. I currently purchase compositions that are moderate and continue looking at them for even hours now and again. I have continued work of art at whatever point I could and have skilled a couple of my best canvases to companions who have appreciated the artistic creations and have agreed them a spot in the mass of their homes. Since adolescence, I have begun appreciating and examining the craft of different extraordinary painters all the more intently. I have had the option to get familiar with the complexities of different compositions. I have understood that artworks are a record of the painters’ sentiments. The craftsmanship is for the most part from the heart.

I know people who take out auto loans even though they have the money in the bank. They use the bank’s money at, say, 4% instead of using their money at an investment rate of 10%. Just because they have an auto loan doesn’t mean they are in debt. They have the money to pay the bill at any time that they choose.“I would also suggest teaching your kids what makes up their credit report and how their decisions affect their score. Use a free website such as Credit Karma to look at this information. It will not only give you a free credit score, it will break down each category and how you fare in each one. Knowledge is power. You can also use this site or www.annualcreditreport.com to look at your credit report to find errors which can be disputed and help your score.”Teach by example“I learned about credit the hard way,” Michael Doane (@medoane) writer and marketing expert with CadmiumCD (@cadmiumcd), told us. “After college, I ate ramen every night for a year so I could put every penny to pay off my student loans. I lived in a basement with a cement floor and drove a car that b arely ran. To me, the money I was making wasnt mine, it was my creditors.“It took about 15 months, but I eventually paid off my loans. I kept at it, living in the same conditions, until I had a decent chunk of change saved up to buy a house. The thing is, I didnt have a credit card during that time and eventually my credit score dropped off entirely. I didnt realize it until my then-girlfriend (now-wife) and I went to purchase a home. They told me I couldnt get the loan because I essentially couldnt prove my worth as a debtor. All my tradelines had disappeared.“So, I had to start from the bottom someone who valued paying off their loans far ahead of schedule, someone who proved that they had what it took to take and pay off a loan. 5 years later I have great credit (780+) simply buying gas every month on a single card and paying it off. I have a home with a very small mortgage for what its worth, and a car thats paid off.“My case is pretty radical, but I watched my parents lo se everything during the recession and I told myself Id never go through that again. Id never put other people that depend on me through that.“The point is, good or bad, your kids will learn through the example you set. Might as well set a good example and teach them through experience rather than observation.”April Lewis-Parks, Director of Education for Consolidated Credit (@ConsolidatedUS) also emphasized the importance of setting a good example:It’s important to remember that no matter how old your children are that being a financial role model is an important part of parenting. Setting a good example can help kids be successful with their money.  Here are three tips I recommend:Dont get swamped with credit card debt. Taking on too much credit card debt can lead to financial difficulty. Youll be damaging your own finances and your children could be more likely to take on debt in the future because they saw their parents do it. To avoid credit card debt, make sure you pract ice the best credit card behavior â€" i.e. always paying on time â€" and teach the same things to your children.Allow your children to learn from your mistakes. While you may feel as though hiding your financial mistakes from your children is a good idea, it is better to let them learn from them so they dont make the same mistakes when they are older, according to U.S. News World Report. For example, if you find yourself falling short on some bills due to overspending, be sure to let your children know, as it could be useful information for them once they are in charge of their own finances.Sit down and talk with your child about money. Sometimes, a simple talk goes a long way in helping them. Many teenagers feel as though their parents dont talk to them enough about budgeting and money, so dont be afraid to sit your child down and have the talk. Be sure to touch on topics such as savings and long-term planning to help set your child up for a successful financial future.Use real wo rld experiencesAt the end of the day, there’s nothing better than learning first-hand. You might have to toss your kids into the deep end of the financial pool so they can learn to swim. (Editors note: DO NOT ACTUALLY TOSS KIDS WHO CAN’T SWIM INTO POOLS.)“The reason I had strong financial discipline was because my mom let me fail with money at a young age,” explained Phil Risher, founder of the Young Adult Survival Guide (@yasurvivalguide).“When I was 16 she gave me a debit card and would load $100 each month so I did not have to ask her for money. One day I was out to eat with my friends and my card was declined. Talk about embarrassing. I came home and complained that the card did not work. We looked up the balance, and I had overdrafted the account. “This was a life lesson that I am glad I made in my teens when I did not have any real bills because I started to learn how to use self-control with money.”“Part of financial education for kids is helping them understa nd the value of a dollar,” Ross told us. “The best way to do this is for them to earn their own money and learn money management skills through practice. Some parents choose to do this through allowance, while others have their children earn money outside of the house. You can also do a combination of both. Consider helping kids divide earnings into threes â€" one part for saving, one part for spending, and one part for a charity of their choice. This shows kids the valuable skill of saving and the importance of charity.”Babys first credit historyRoss offers a guide for helping your kids build their own credit history:“Building a credit history is important. A consumer’s credit history can affect their insurance, ability to rent an apartment, get a job, or get a cell phone plan. Credit history is needed to get all types of loans, from mortgages to department store cards.To start building a positive credit history, individuals should acquire and positively manage small line s of credit. The following are credit options for individuals who need to begin building a positive credit history: Make a child an authorized user on a parent’s card.Co-sign a credit card with your child. Co-signers on an account are equally responsible for the loan. Therefore, the loan is on their credit report as well, making a positive or negative impact depending on how the credit is managed. Have your children open a secured card. Secured cards and loans typically require a cash or collateral security deposit to ensure payment of the debt. The larger the security deposit or collateral, the higher the credit limit granted. The cash security deposit is returned when you close the account with the balance fully paid backHave your child establish a checking savings account to build a good banking history.Make small purchases and pay off balances monthly (Do not apply for too many cards at once).”If your kid is able to build a maintain a good credit history, this will mean ste ering clear of bad credit loans and lowers their chances of encountering a predatory lender. While it is definitely possible to fix a damaged credit history, avoiding one in the first place is always the better option.Start small with household choresAs has been the case for a decade, chores can be something of a “starter job,” as Smith advised: “Start off simple with weekly chores. Pay your children based on chores they do around the house. Once they understand that money is earned, not given, you can start separating it into jarsone for saving and one for spending. It is important kids learn the fundamentals of saving vs. spending early on so understand saving is a normal thing to do.”Vasey also suggests putting money into kids hands to practice with: “If a parent buys them something, the child can work off their debt by doing extra chores and meeting certain expectations. For example keeping their room tidy, cutting the grass, washing the car etc. That, to them, would b e working off debt.“Parents can agree to ‘loan them money in advance’ if it is needed. This allows the child to understand that they have the money available to use if it is needed, but they need to be prepared to work the debt off. This can apply for nearly every trip to the shops, the latest product, or even as gas money for when they want to be driven around.Use everything in this guide and come up with your own tricks, and your kids will be financial whizzes before you know it. It is a high standard of living that is associated with happiness and living a life worth living. This life will create endless joy and bliss for that person. To some, this might be living the American Dream by having a blue-collar job and residing in the suburbs with a white picket fence. Every individual is different though and has a different belief system. These various values can lead to different goals in life and habits. Philosophers Plato and Aristotle have their own views on the good life. Therefore, developing healthy habits lead us toward obtaining a better life. Whereas, picking bad habits makes us believe we are headed towards things that are good but may turn out to be bad for us. The partition was broadcasted in the Indian Independence act 1947 and resulted in the dissolution of the British Indian Empire. Punjab was divided into two, the west side for Punjab of Pakistan and the east side for Punjab of India. The major districts affected were jallunder, Gurdespur and Hoslipur. Sadly the people of this area knew not until almost the last minute whether they were to put as part of India or Pakistan. Apart from this, Bengal province was divided into East Pakistan (Bangladesh after 1971), far from the rest of the country (West Pakistan). The Partition resulted in the relocation of around eight million Muslims, and some what the same numbers of Sikhs and Hindus, across the Indo-Pakistan borders in the in 1947. This has been recorded as the largest refugee movement of the 20th century, and was accompanied by communal violence and atrocities committed on all sides of the religious spectrum, with a death toll calculated at approximately 1 million. People were moving from east Punjab to west Punjab and vice versa, west Bengal to east and people from the mainland India, United Province /Central Province/Delhi mainly migrated to urban area of Pakistan especially Karachi and Hyderabad. Over all some 14 million people left everything behind and set out to move across the newly formed border by train, bus, lorry, bull arts and foot, all to seek refuge with â€Å"their own kind†. Many were slaughtered by the opposing side, many starved or exhausted to death. Also, a large number of those who made it across died from diseases like cholera dysentery. People were left behind as well, families were broken apart. This is shown in â€Å"Khamosh Pani† too. The refugees had to face many proble ms, this accounts for both sides of the border. Their problems can mainly be classified into social, economical and emotional/psychological. Social problems are normally that of adjusting with the new language and new culture. However, in this case, although communication and culture may not have been the major problem, there were other social problems such as having to leave their community and neighbours, people with such strong family ties from centuries. The social displacement was so huge, in India they lived in villages, in mohallahs, in cities within net cohesive societies. And then coming to a new land, trying to embrace it and hoping to be embraced back by it. When they came here, they had to disperse all over Pakistan where ever they could settle or get their hold over property. Secondly the economic problems meant having to leave all their assets/ property/ belongings behind when they shifted to the new area. They had no shelter, no food, and no money. Although some land was allotted on proof of property possession in India but most people did not have property documents. This also links with the administrative problem that the system and the government faced because of these refugees. It had nothing to feed them; the country itself was just learning to stand on its own feet. There was massive insecurity and threat. The funds it had, it wanted to pump into defence for the long term interest and safekeeping of the country. However, the already residing Muslims welcomed them and backed them up, the government put up relief camps for the refugee wellbeing but this too only mean further movement and disarticulation for them. Still with no business, no job, no property, the life of the refugees took a new start from scratch. Thirdly, the refugees were over come with stress, mental exhaustion and psychological denial. Having to leave their assets behind and struggling for life in a new piece of land was one thing; these people had seen so much blood shed that is was nearly impossible to continue life in its normal state. The thought your loved ones killed, slaughtered, shot, burned gives one the chills, and these people had to witness such horror through their own eyes. The opposing side killed mercilessly. They looted. They molested and captured and killed females. Such images aren’t easily forgotten and stories still run in many families of the hardships faced by our ancestors. Relatives left behind had it worse, and their families lived in the trauma of knowing their loved was alive and there was no way of getting to them, as shown in the film â€Å"Khamosh Pani†. The difficulties these refugees faced no doubt caused incurable pain and discomfort. But did they get an advantage out of all this? Did they and their generations live better now then had they not migrated? Certainly yes. The migration to a Muslim homeland opened doors for opportunities they would have never seen otherwise. Same goes for the Sikh and Hindus that migrated to the east. They got a better economic environment, new jobs, and new business. Many got better properties. In united India, very few Muslims could get good jobs and favourable livelihood, due to the British favourism towards the Hindus/non Muslims. The new civil sector, government sector, the military, proper colleges and universities, all opened up new branches to life for these refugees. Their human resource practice did not even conform to the basic tenet of Taylor’s scientific management which is the most basic management concept available today. Taylor management theories may have been dismissed as outdated but at least, Taylor had the mot ivation concept that if employees will be paid well, they will also be motivated to work well (Butler 1991). Foxconn is notorious in this aspect that its employees are even driven to suicide out of frustration of the company ‘s level of pay. It would find ways where it can force its employees to work overtime without pay such as delaying their commuter bus. It may be a cheap strategy but Foxconn would resort to it for as long as it can make more money out of its employees never mind if they will commit suicide later. Foxconn has also no regard for its employees welfare. Instead of addressing the root cause of its suicide issues in the company which is mismanagement and oppressive pay, it instead made its employees sign a contract that would deter them in suing the company if anything happen to them in the company. Analysis of A Passage to India by Forster Forster's novel A Passage to India portrays a colonial India under British rule, before its liberation. For convenience's sake, Western civilization has created an Other as counterpart to itself, and a set of characteristics to go with it. An "us versus them" attitude is exemplified in Forster's representation of The Other. Separation of the British and the Indian exists along cultural lines, specifically religious/spiritual differences. Savage or ungodly cultures were to be assimilated into or at the least governed by Christians, and converted. The separation between the English and the Indian occurs when the Christian assumes the Indians are an ungodly people, in need of spiritual salvation, a race below their own, and entirely unlike them. This was demonstrated historically by the dominance of supposedly inferior races by the Christians (English). Forster's Indians have a seemingly rugged outward appearance. They are a godless people insomuchas they do not believe in the Christian GOD, even though there are two religions, Hinduism and Muslimism, which thrive in India. This division of India's religions, as opposed to England's presumably unifying religion, separates England from India even moreso. Because the Indians do not believe in the Christian GOD, they are unrecognized as spiritual. Religion shapes, if not embodies characterization. The British are British because of their religion, i.e. Ronny Heaslop is who he is because he is a white Christian British male. How he is outwardly polished is a construct of his Christian upbringing. Ronny "approved of religion as long as it endorsed the National Anthem [of England]." (p. 65) His purpose, as was the purpose of English colonialists, was constructed by his Christian beliefs. If Ronny were not English (and for this paper's purposes, English is specifically and continually linked with Christianity) he would not exist as a character. He is almost a caricature of what is English, and is represented wholly by t he standards and beliefs of that culture. In contrast, Aziz would not exists if he were not Indian, representing wholly the standards and beliefs of that culture. There is evidence that there was a growing concern of a nursing shortage in the United States dating back to the early 1960’s. In a March 2012 report it was noted that the healthcare job market is exceeding the growth realized in 2011. This growth accounts for one out of every five new jobs in 2012 according the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS). Registered Nursing will be the top occupation in terms of job growth through 2020 with the number of employed nurses increasing by 712,000 which is a 26% increase. (Rosseter, 2012) Will this growth satisfy the increasing demand for healthcare services? It is important†¦show more content†¦Compromised patient safety has contributed to frustration and burnout in the nursing profession. (Duvall, 2010) Insufficient staffing is impacting job satisfaction which has driven many nurses out of their profession. (Rosseter, 2012) It is important to note that the incr ease in nursing enrollment is not sufficient enough to meet projected demands on the healthcare system. The American Association of Colleges of Nurses reported 67,563 qualified nursing applicants were turned away from programs between 2010-2011 due to the lack of faculty and resources. A mere 8% of advanced practicing nurses are looking to a career as a nurse educator. This decreased availability of faculty has resulted in 50% of qualified applicants to nursing programs being turned away annually. (Littlejohn 2012) In the 21st century co morbid patients has become a major focus with one in every five Americans suffering from at least one chronic condition putting more pressure on the healthcare system. Diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, cardiovascular disease and mental health are some of the major health issues of today’s population. In addition, obesity in the United States is increasing and is linked to the cause of many of these chronic conditions.
